while say is preparing to head back to kona and dts staffing, lay is halfway around the world, helping out with the 2011 track, a sweet group of people if i do say so.

we are in the hills of switzerland (literally our town [i prefer not to mention it's name, gland, because it doesn't do it justice] is about 300-people strong.)

i think an evening walk will be a definite routine.

so layne is a minimalist.

however, she has kept a hidden place of fondness in her heart for the few boxes of her earthly possessions she still possessed, the few boxes that have been sleeping for YEARS at her dad’s house. (thank you daddy.) and this past saturday, the boxes were opened. for the first time since she and catherine packed up their beloved apartment in 2005, layne has a new home. insert sigh of happiness here. jonathan will be living in their apartment until the wedding, but layne’s stuff (mostly books, much to his chagrin!) will be nestled right beside him.

Capricorn Township is a community of 20,000 people, primarily Afrikaans-speaking coloureds. There is also a mix of South African tribal groups and a variety of immigrants from Malawi, Zimbabwe, Cameroon and the Congo. HIV/AIDS infection is at 37% and unemployment is at 85%. Drug and alcohol abuse abounds and poverty characterizes the community.

Consider joining the YWAM Community Transformation DTS! This 6-month Discipleship Training School is designed to equip and unleash a generation upon the world who are fueled by radical prayer and deep love, willing to change the world and disciple nations! There is a 3-month lecture phase in Kona, Hawaii to engage with the Lord’s heart for the nations, followed by a 3-month outreach.

Student fees for the 12-week lecture phase of the school are $3,950 (room, board and tuition). There are significant fee discounts for students from developing nations. Fees for the 12-week field assignment include airfares, housing and food, and they are estimated to be $5,000-$6,000.

up here in canada, we are getting ready to move our stuff and jonathan into our new apartment. lay’s first HOME in…well, since 2006. that’s a long time. we have many various furniture pieces and are spending a couple of days sanding and painting them so they will be ready for The Big Move on saturday a.m.

so this is nothing as gorgeous as lindsay’s latest shoot, but lay of laysay has been taking some portraits herself. and of herself. she and jonathan spent the last week in kentucky, seeing people and sorting through various closets, drawers, etc.

jonathan + sonic. hot.

we had a lot of time in the car. don’t worry, layne was driving when he took this photo.

MAMA loves having her picture made.

we stopped in st. louis and i got to meet jennie’s sister, gracie.

Photo Shoot + Action Fun

My friend, Jannelle, is an amazing photographer with a very distinct style. Being from a very photojournalist background, I never really played around with Photoshop actions.

But wanting to expand my photography skill, and have a few tricks up my sleeve when it comes to portraits, I asked Jannelle if I could follow her on a few photo shoots around the island to practice.

Today, we took photos of our friend Mika. I’m not sure I really found “my portrait style”, but I had a lot of fun playing around!

Buttons Buttons Buttons

First let me [Lindsay] state, that I am back in Kona, Hawaii. For how long, is still being determined.

I am helping Layne with some wedding details. I recently made guest book tags + photo booth props.

Today, Diane and I spent 4.5 hours making 348 buttons. While I’d like to say it was because of Di and I, at one point we had nearly 10 people surrounding us as we made buttons [they were fascinated with the process]. Some visitors even helped attach the backs!

Di is a rock star and I’m so grateful for her help!
